Deja Chambliss

LIVE BLOG: No. 27 Maryland and No. 41 George Washington at No. 52 Towson

George Washington and Maryland have made the short trip up to Towson for a tri meet with some regionals implications.

George Washington still has a shot at qualifying to regionals, but will probably need at least a high 195 to stay in contention. This is the first of two meets for the Colonials this weekend, so they will have a much better look at where they stand regionals-wise at the end of this weekend. Deja Chambliss debuted in the all around a few weeks ago and has not scored below 39 yet this season.

Maryland is coming off one of the best scores in program history, a 196.975. The return of Collea Burgess to the vault and beam lineups helped a lot, and the Terrapins will be looking to continue that momentum into this week. The task now will be to stay in the top 28 to avoid a play-in meet.

This season has been a fresh start for Towson with a huge freshman class and lots of new faces in the lineups. Keep an eye on Emerson Hurst, who can be excellent on beam but hasn’t quite gotten the scores she is capable of this season.
