NCAA Cancels Winter Championships, Including Gymnastics

The NCAA announced Thursday afternoon that it would suspend all remaining winter and spring championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For gymnastics, this means that the national championships in Fort Worth, Texas, scheduled for April 17 and 18, will not take place. The three days of competition at regional host sites Denver, Penn State, UCLA and Utah are also NCAA championship series events and are therefore also cancelled.

Currently, the MIC, MAC, MRGC and MPSF conference championships have not been cancelled, though we expect the NCAA announcement to cause cascading cancellations. Note: As of Thursday at 6:30 p.m. ET, all conferences have had at least one team confirming that competition has halted. We continue to monitor ongoing schedule changes. Please see our master schedule and COVID-19 tracker for the most up-to-date information.

  1. wait so no more championship meets? it’s all over? i feel horrible for the seniors that end their careers like this (and obviously for all the people affected, through illness or racism)
