Code of Points – Floor

Routine Requirements

Every college bar, beam, and floor routine begins from a 9.4 base start value if they meet all the special requirements and have the minimum required number and difficulty of elements: 3As (0.1 each), 3Bs (0.3 each), and 2Cs (0.5 each). Gymnasts must meet all requirements and have a combination of connective and difficulty bonus to earn a 10.0 start value. For example, a gymnast cannot “make up” for a missing special requirement by adding in additional bonus. Gymnasts receive deductions from their maximum potential score for errors in routine composition or execution. The final score is determined by calculating the maximum start value and subtracting all applicable composition and execution deductions.

Common Deductions

Composition: Up to the (difficulty) Level (UTL)Gymnast must meet ALL requirements or incur a deduction
– One E element OR two different D elements, where one is acro
– Last acro pass with minimum D salto or C salto in bonus combination
– Two pass routine only: must have D salto in each pass, or a D salto in one and a minimum of 0.2 connective bonus in the other
0.1
Other Compositional Deductions
Insufficient use of floor (spatiality)0.05
Distribution of (difficult) elements0.05
0.10
Missing dance bonus0.1
Missing backward salto minimum A0.1
Missing forward/sideward salto minimum A0.1
Out of Bounds

Failure to hold ending pose for 1 second0.05
Poor rhythm in direct connections0.1

*The line itself is considered in bounds. A fall while out of bounds still incurs the fall deduction (0.50 + 0.10)
** Gymnasts may take a controlled step in the direction of the momentum of their tumbling pass. An uncontrolled step or a step to the side or opposite direction (underrotation) would incur a landing deduction.
