Code of Points – Beam

Routine Requirements

Every college bar, beam, and floor routine begins from a 9.4 base start value if they meet all the special requirements and have the minimum required number and difficulty of elements: 3As (0.1 each), 3Bs (0.3 each), and 2Cs (0.5 each). Gymnasts must meet all requirements and have a combination of connective and difficulty bonus to earn a 10.0 start value. For example, a gymnast cannot “make up” for a missing special requirement by adding in additional bonus. Gymnasts receive deductions from their maximum potential score for errors in routine composition or execution. The final score is determined by calculating the maximum start value and subtracting all applicable composition and execution deductions.
