Joscelyn Roberson, U.S. elite and Arkansas gymnast, smiles while clapping chalk from her hands during a meet. She wears a red and white leotard with rhinestone detailing, and the blurred arena crowd is visible in the background.

7 US Elite Leotards Meet Their Collegiate Look-Alikes

The madness? Sharing our answers to the game leotard aficionados play, matching elite and collegiate designs. The method? Assessing elements including color, fabric, structure, and pattern density in a much less numerical sense than weekly leotard rankings. Across two days of competition at nationals, we’ve picked out the seven leos that match one of a specific collegiate team, and a handful that could feasibly sneak their way into a team’s wardrobe without anyone batting an eye. Look up the college fits in our leotard database using the school name and leotard code, and let us know if you spot more lookalikes!

1. GAGE Day 1 x Iowa 292101

At the risk of stating the obvious, GAGE’s leotard from night one could be a prototype from the Hawkeyes’ design lab. We had our pick of the litter deciding which one to compare it to, and it simply felt correct to pick this minimal piece, originally worn in 2021.

2. WCC Day 1 x Michigan 372502

Navy and a sparkled-out torso have been a steady recipe for success across the NCAA. Finding one that’s logo-free, and just as dense as WCC’s Starry Night inspired design, leads us right to Michigan’s Chaos design. The stones take center stage and contrast the navy on each leotard’s matte body and mesh sleeves.

3. Amariah Moore Day 1 x W&M 802302

To link a teal and pink leotard to a collegiate team, we skipped every step in the loose method we’d been following up to that point. After effectively training ourselves to remember leos after three years of weekly rankings, the steps disappeared, and we found the matching leo from 2023. William & Mary is the only team to have used those colors, and it even has the same horizontal split across the waist where the colors meet.

4. Joscelyn Roberson Day 1 x UCLA 662203

UCLA has been no stranger to bright blues, and this specific design matches Roberson’s almost to a tee when in motion. The faux-sweetheart neckline paired with sparse yet intentional stones could fit right into the Bruins’ closet if it weren’t for the Razorbacks’ insignia on Roberson’s hip.

5. Jayla Hang Day 2 x Washington 762302

With most (if not all other) comparisons originating from the main color and fabrics, Hang’s day two leo comes from the rhinestones well before any other design element. The dense geometric design evokes Washington’s fan-favorite library leotard, and it looks just as stunning on a matte black base as it does on shimmering purple.

6. Harlow Buddendeck Day 2 x Temple 622202

Every gym fan will come up with a different answer when they’re asked to associate a white and red leo with a team. If we make it include an ombre and add a note that the red has to be matte and have cool undertones, then the options begin to narrow significantly. RGA and Buddendeck’s leotard emulates the Owls’ second of two new reveals from 2022 right down to the rhinestoned statement neckline.

7. Leanne Wong Day 2 x UW-Oshkosh 732301

The front of these two leos may not be the spitting image of each other, but the back is where we’d like to draw your attention to. The gold straps and stoned logo underneath on Wong’s leo mirror that of the Titans, and they do so elegantly when paired with the sparse stoning on the sleeves.

Honorable Mentions

There were plenty of leotards that at first glance may seem to match college teams, but could only be explained by matching a vibe rather than having the specs of a single leotard. Our top picks for leotards that fit into that category are listed below:

GAGE (Day Two) – UCLA

Claire Pease, WOGA (Day Two) – Auburn and California

Hezly Rivera, WOGA (Day Two) – Kentucky

Addy Fulcher, Georgia Elite (Day Two) – Ball State

Sophia Buechler, Midwest (Day Two) – Florida
