Fantasy Central: Week 9

Fantasy Central: Week 9

It’s year four with Gymlytics fantasy college gymnastics in 2025! We all learned lessons when GymChem took up the helm and created her revamped game, and we’re ready for a fun new season.

Our weekly cadence will continue to match Gymlytics: The fantasy “week” begins with Friday meets, ends with any Thursday ones and trading happens every Monday via the waiver wire. You’ll find us here every Tuesday talking about “next week,” meaning the fantasy week starting that Friday.

This is your one-stop-shop for all things fantasy each week. We’ll be tracking injuries, noting byes and double headers, and giving you tips and tricks to put forward your best team possible.

Things got very exciting last week! Here’s hoping one of those 9.975s ended up in your fantasy score. This week, note that Utah is on a bye.

Data Corner

Once again we have data editor Dara joining us for Fantasy Central each week. She’ll be breaking down the numbers for you with notes on routine hit rate, lineup appearance frequency, and breakout performances to keep an eye on.

Hit Rate and Lineup Frequency: Over the last 10 fantasy weeks (extending into last season), the following gymnasts have been some of the most valuable* on their respective events:

  • Vault: Makenna Smith, Nikki Smith, Jocelyn Moore, Mya Hooten, Jade Carey, Morgan Price, Mya Lauzon, Amari Drayton, Chase Brock, Sarah Moraw
  • Bars: Grace McCallum, Audrey Davis, Jade Carey, Jordyn Lyden, Jordan Bowers, Madelyn Williams, Frida Esparza, Ashley Cowan, eMjae Frazier, Madison Ulrich
  • Beam: Jade Carey, Emma Malabuyo, Jordan Bowers, Audrey Davis, Chloe Negrete, Sophia McClelland, Madelyn Williams, Gabby McLaughlin, Faith Torrez, Isabella Magnelli, Sloane Blakely
  • Floor: Faith Torrez, Mya Lauzon, Jordan Bowers, Chloe Negrete, Carly Bauman, Hannah Horton, Sophia Groth, Jordan Chiles, Mya Lauzon, Brooklyn Moors

*Based on a 10-player league, using high scores for multi-meet weekends. Top 50 scores including ties in each fantasy week were included at full value, the next 50 scores were included with a slight discount, and the remaining scores were ignored when calculating values.

Breakout Performances: Freshman Ui Soma performed a solid Yurchenko full in her vault debut, scoring a 9.850 as a late substitute in the anchor spot. Caroline Leonard made her collegiate bars debut with a strong 9.850. This was also the Auburn senior’s first routine since 2023. N.C. State senior Brooke Smead notched a 9.875 on beam in her collegiate debut. Missouri freshman Kaia Tanskanen made a statement in her floor debut, posting a 9.900.

Starts & Sits for Week 9

This is the spot to find your solutions for those big bye weeks and advice on how to handle injuries, lineup changes, and those surprise breakout performances.

Vault: Addison Fatta did not vault in either of the Sooners’ meets last weekend. Audrey Davis was slotted back into her spot there. Fatta had a successful week on her other three pieces and Davis vaulted well, so it seems likely that this is the preferred lineup moving forward. Kayli Boozer exhibitioned vault for the Wolverines; expect Peyton Davis‘ or Paige Thaxton’s spot to be vulnerable, although note that we did see Thaxton’s Yurchenko one and a half.

Bars: By all appearances, Mia Hebinck’s absence from Denver lineups was just rest. Anya Pilgrim took a very hard bars fall; she finished her routine but was held out of the rest of the meet. It’s possible she was just in concussion protocol, and it’s unclear whether she’ll be available this week.

Beam: It’s possibly a good thing the Utes have the week off. Jaylene Gilstrap seemed to tweak her shoulder, and it’s unclear why Ana Padurariu has been absent from the lineup. We’ll see if we know more by week 10. We saw Riley McCusker on beam after Sloane Blakeley’s apparent injury on floor for Florida; expect McCusker to get another shot here.

Floor: According to KJ Johnson’s Snapchat story, she is fully training floor again. We may see her return here in a week or two. Avery Neff is also reportedly starting to tumble again after her ankle sprain a few weeks ago. Expect her to be an option around conference championships time, although her recovery timeline has been very rapid, so it could be even sooner. Per the broadcast, Chae Campbell skipped vault and floor for rest.

Waiver Wire Wrap-up

Finally, we have a waiver wire in gymnastics! Who should you prioritize this week? Since Fantasy Central comes out on Tuesdays, keep in mind that these tips are catered toward next week.

Vault: Penn’s Jordan Barrow leads the GEC on vault; she has a 9.875 best and averages just under a 9.800.

Bars: Rutgers’ Delaney Adrian has become a bars asset; she hasn’t scored below a 9.800 since mid-January.

Beam: Emma Schrady exhibitioned for Washington and could enter that lineup. Texas Woman’s Emma Brkljacic is inconsistent here but has gone as high as 9.875; if your lineup can handle volatility, she’s worth considering.

Floor: Brockport’s one-two-punch of Kiara Hockman and Emma Brookins are having stellar floor seasons; they should be available in many leagues.
