There’s a lot that happens on the gymternet each week. So much so that it can be hard to keep track of it all. From training updates and COVID-year announcements to recruiting rumors and coaching news, we don’t blame you for missing some important points here and there.

That’s where we come in. Last Week in College Gym is your one-stop shop for all the important headlines from the previous week in college gymnastics. No matter if you’re taking a social media break, went on vacation, or just don’t have the capacity to follow every single gymnast, team, and fan, we have you covered.

Top Storylines

Camryn Richardson Leaves UCLA

Camryn Richardson, expected to join the freshman class at UCLA this season, is no longer at the school. A former national vault champion, she was expected to contribute on the event throughout her career.

Other Newsworthy Items

  • Former Eastern Michigan gymnast and Alaska assistant coach Hannah Hartung was named an assistant coach at Bowling Green.
  • UCLA junior Jordan Chiles was named an Ebony Magazine Power 100 honoree in the Leaders in Sport category. Chiles also got a custom Lucky Charms box.
  • The 2024 North Carolina State team received its ACC Championship rings. 
  • Alabama assistant coach Justin Spring was promoted to associate head coach.
  • Wes Norris was named as an assistant coach at Southern Connecticut.
  • George Young was named as an assistant coach at Central Michigan.
  • Former Auburn gymnast Sunisa Lee has a partnership with lululemon.

Training Updates

  • Alabama held its annual Ghosts and Goblins intrasquad. Members of the freshman class were heavily featured, with Ryan Fuller and Paityn Walker in the all-around. In addition, Kylee Kvamme showed vault and beam, Love Birt did beam and floor, and Faye Rodio did vault. Sophomore Gabby Ladanyi also showed bars and beam routines after not competing in 2024. 
  • Georgia freshman Alexis Czarrunchick is training a front tuck through to double tuck on floor.  
  • Missouri redshirt junior Amy Wier is training a piked jaeger on bars.
  • Temple junior Reese DeHaan is training a front ruck through to double tuck on floor. She has only competed on bars for the Owls in her career.
  • BYU sophomore Ava Jorgensen is training two back handsprings to a layout step out series on beam. She did not compete the event in her freshman year. Classmate Alilah Alvarado is training a switch leap to back handspring swing down series; she also did not compete the event in 2024.
  • Michigan State sophomore Kendall Abney is training a Ray to bail combination on bars.
  • Iowa sophomore Alyse Karenbauer is training a Yurchenko one and a half on vault.
  • Rutgers senior Jacqueline Manifold is training a double front dismount on bars. Junior teammate Harmony Webster is training a full-in on floor.
