There’s a lot that happens on the gymternet each week. So much so that it can be hard to keep track of it all. From training updates and COVID-year announcements to recruiting rumors and coaching news, we don’t blame you for missing some important points here and there.

That’s where we come in. Last Week in College Gym is your one-stop shop for all the important headlines from the previous week in college gymnastics. No matter if you’re taking a social media break, went on vacation, or just don’t have the capacity to follow every single gymnast, team, and fan, we have you covered.

Top Storylines

Eboni Jackson Named Wilberforce Head Coach

Former Winona State gymnast Eboni Jackson was named head coach of Wilberforce. Jackson was a standout at Winona State, earning NCGA national titles on floor and in the all-around. Wilberforce will begin competition in the 2026 season.

Olympic Corner

  • Former Auburn gymnast and 2021 Olympic all-around champion Sunisa Lee won the bronze medal in the Paris all-around final.
  • Former Alabama gymnast Luisa Blanco finished twenty-third in the all-around final after becoming the first ever Colombian gymnast to qualify for it. 
  • Former Alabama gymnast Shallon Olsen finished tied for 7th in the vault final after qualifying for the event final her third straight Olympics in a row. 
  • LSU senior Aleah Finnegan, UCLA senior Emma Malabuyo, and incoming Stanford freshman Levi Jung-Ruivivar were featured in the Washington Post for their Olympic accomplishments.
  • Jung-Ruivivar posted on Instagram about her plans to continue training elite for the Philippines while competing at Stanford, with the goal of qualifying for the 2028 Olympics in LA.

  • Former California gymnast and Stanford club gymnastics coach Caleb Rickard joined the staff at Stanford. 
  • San Jose State volunteer assistant coach Tucker McClure was promoted to assistant coach, per Greg Marsden.
  • Alabama, Michigan State, California, and North Carolina will compete at this season’s Elevate the Stage Huntsville event on March 9, 2025. 
  • Sacramento State has opened its new training facility.
  • Former Texas Woman’s gymnast Daisy Woodring was nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Transfer News

  • Former Eastern Michigan gymnast Trinity Macy will use her fifth year at West Virginia. Macy had previously announced plans to remain at Eastern Michigan for her final year of eligibility.
  • Talladega sophomore Alexa Chuy transferred to George Washington. 

Training Updates

  • Auburn senior Sarah Zois is training a Yurchenko one and a half on vault.
  • West Virginia junior Emma Wehry is training a double front on floor. She competed on floor just once last season.
  • BYU fifth-year Anna Bramblett is training a full-twisting double layout dismount on bars.
  • LSU freshman Kailin Chio is training a Church release on bars.
  • Ithaca sophomore Hanna Miller is training a straddled jaeger on bars.
  • UCLA freshman Macy McGowan is training a blind full to double layout dismount on bars.
  • Springfield freshman Leah Spinney is working several bars upgrades, including a tuck toe front half dismount and a Maloney.
  • Springfield freshman Reagan Charlton is working a round off tuck one and a half dismount on beam.
  • Brockport freshman Charlotte Raymond is training a blind to double front dismount on bars. She is also training double pikes on floor into the pit.
  • Brockport freshman Amelia York is training a back front aerial to back handspring to layout stepout series on beam. She is also training double pikes on floor into the pit.
