BREAKING: Head Coach Corrinne Tarver Announces Departure From Fisk

Fisk head coach Corrinne Tarver has announced her departure from the program, stepping down midseason in a farewell message she described as making with a ‘heavy heart.’

Tarver, who made history by leading Fisk as the first Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to field a women’s college gymnastics team, shared the news in an emotional Facebook statement on Tuesday.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from my role as head coach of the Fisk University women’s gymnastics program,” Tarver said. “This experience has been one of the most remarkable of my life, and I will always cherish it.”

Fisk made headlines when it launched its gymnastics team, marking a significant milestone for diversity in the sport. Under Tarver’s leadership, the Bulldogs quickly gained national recognition, earning widespread support from the gymnastics community and bringing national attention to HBCU athletics.

Tarver expressed gratitude to her athletes, faculty, alumni, and fans for their unwavering support. She acknowledged the challenges of building a college gymnastics program at Fisk but praised the university for embracing the team and its mission.

“To my athletes, please know that I love each and every one of you,” she said. “It has been an absolute honor to coach you, to be alongside you in the gym day after day, and to witness your growth.”

The timing of Tarver’s departure and the reason for her exit remain unclear. Fisk has yet to issue an official statement regarding Tarver’s departure.

This is a developing story. This article will be updated as more information becomes available.
