Danielle Sievers Oklahoma

LIVE BLOG: No. 10 Missouri at No. 1 Oklahoma

The top-ranked Sooners open their home slate tonight after a great start to the season, much as we expected. The biggest questions for Oklahoma tonight are lineup-related. Will we see five all arounders again tonight?

Meanwhile, feisty Missouri is looking strong despite some preseason injuries. This team can be dangerous, and even if an upset isn’t in the cards, this is an opportunity for a nice early road score. Watch for Amy Wier on beam as the former Sooner faces her old team.

Rotation 1: Oklahoma VT, Missouri UB

I’m missing routines here because my stream won’t start. Apologies for that.

After 1: Oklahoma 49.350, Missouri 49.100

That was a very annoying experience that involved reinstalling multiple apps and figuring out what My Disney is. (I was already logged into ESPN and it decided I wasn’t.) Oklahoma is still running 5 AA. I’m reasonably sure that there are better options than this.

Rotation 2: Missouri VT, Oklahoma UB

Mueller (Miz): FTY, leg separation and hop back. 9.725

Pederson (OU): Maloney to Pak, nice, shy on a high bar handstand, DLO with a step back. 9.85

Burns (Miz): FTY, piked down a bit, not great distance, scoot back. 9.775

Fatta (OU): Church to Pak, saw little bits of leg separation and the half pirouette was a bit wonky, DLO with a tiny hop. 9.9

Tanskanen (Miz): Tsuk full, great dynamics, medium hop straight back. 9.825

Torrez (OU): Lovely Ray, great toe point. Toe to Pak with a little leg separation, not egregious. Short on the last cast handstand, DLO with a little shuffle. 9.825

Horton (Miz): Solid powerful one and a half, hop straight forward. 9.875

Mueller (OU): Ray, I like the turnover, Pak high with leg separation. Drilled the double lay. 9.85

Moore (Miz): Dead stuck on her Yurchenko one and a half. Twisting onto the table a bit but I’m looking for something to criticize here. 9.975

Davis (OU): Crushed the first handstand, high and clean pike Jaeger, the stream skipped to her dismount stick position so that’s hilarious. Um, I guess it was good? 9.95

Celestine (Miz): Her usual flavor of slightly overpowered one and a half, one bouncy step forward. 9.85

Bowers (OU): Pike Jaeger is good, her Pak is one of my favorites, clean and airy. Finding the landings beautifully, little step on the dismount. 9.85

After 2: Oklahoma 98.750, Missouri 98.400

Rotation 3: Oklahoma BB, Missouri FX

Davis (OU): BHS LOSO is clean, awkward transitioning from front aerial to choreo, definitely could call that a check. Clean on the leaps, stuck her double full. 9.925

Tisler (Miz): Slide back on her front lay to Rudi. Switch full is AWESOME to stag leap, that’s such a difficult leap to crush like she did. Good combo pass to finish. 9.825

Wells (OU): Switch leg side aerial, I love that skill. Slightly uncertain about her full turn, nice switch switch. Tidy 1.5 dismount. 9.825

Jackson (Miz): Had some problems with stream skipping during this routine but everything I saw was really tidy. Shout out to her for pointing her toes in the double tuck, at least in the first salto. 9.875

Fatta (OU): BHS LOSO, check. Side aerial, check. Double full, bigger hop. That’s pretty poor for an OU beam routine. I don’t know why she’s here. 9.775

Celestine (Miz): Waaaay overpowers her first pass, flies out of bounds and ultimately fell backwards. Grabbed her ankle and made me nervous for a second but she’s back to finish. Front through double back is good. Using her inhaler as she walks off. 8.975

Bowers (OU): BHS LOSO, great, fluid. Switch switch half is lovely. Double full, a tiny foot shift. 9.925

Horton (Miz): Following a fall, great full in to open, ambiguous rotation on her leaps. Long lunge on the front through double back. I love her style, she’s so nonchalant. 9.875

Pederson (OU): Full turn nice, BHS LOSO with a little lean. Hitch kick switch side. Side somi. Drilled the double full. 9.9

Griffin (Miz): Double pike, picks up the front foot a little quickly for me. Front through double back to finish and her presentation is so great. 9.75, I probably missed some stuff in the feed freezing so much.

Torrez (OU): Can pick up a couple tenths here. Orphan wolf jump always makes me laugh. Side aerial LOSO, substantial check there, so ignore what I said about those couple tenths. Switch to straddle, BHS gainer full stuck.

Moore (Miz)L Double lay, short, couple quick steps forward. Tour jete half Popa with beautiful extension. Front through double tuck, bounce back. 9.775

After 3: Oklahoma 148.125, Missouri 147.500

It’s weird to see Oklahoma fighting through beam, but they limited the damage very effectively. Missouri has plenty of juice on floor and is still working on control, which is fine at this point as long as everyone’s ankles survive it.

Rotation 4:

Davis (OU): Front double full is fine, nicely rotated switch half wolf full. One and a half front full is maybe a smidge underrotated but not so much that they’re likely to care. 9.925

Wier (Miz): I literally typed OU. Hitch kick front aerial to beat, BHS LOSO nice and straight. Full turn, adjustment, hitch kick straddle half. Stuck dismount. Happy for her. 9.825

Fatta (OU): Front double full, low and underrotated, didn’t do the jump connection. Front through two and a half, pretty solid landing there. Switch switch side straddle half, some flexed feet. 9.8

Griffin (Miz): Full turn, adjustment. Kickover front BHS, some knees there. Switch switch beat, that’s a tricky combination. BHS one and a half, hop back. 9.675

Mueller (OU): College floor debut. Front through double tuck, beautiful control on the landing. I like this choreography, it’s a different vibe to the others. Front layout to Rudi, big hop to the side. 9.875

Celestine (Miz): Wolf turn, BHS to side aerial very slow but no extraneous movement. Front tuck, great. Gainer full, stuck with maybe a slightly low chest. 9.725

Pederson (OU): One and a half through two and a half, bouncy but stays in bounds. Solid on the front double full. Switch side Popa is nice and precise.

Jackson (Miz): Front aerial BHS is fluid, I think there was a tiny bit of knee form. A little adjustment on her switch half. She’s got long legs but her leap technique makes them look longer. One and a half dismount is HIGH and stuck. 9.875

Bowers (OU): Front double full front tuck, airy and nothing to take on the landing. Double pike, chest maybe a little borderline if I’m being picky? Tour jete half wolf full, very nice. 9.975

Hu (Miz): Y turn is lovely, front aerial front aerial ethereal and she knows it. Lovely leap control, nice on the handstand work, gainer pike. TENNNNN. It’s the first of the season and the first of her career,

Torrez (OU): Double layout, nice, great lunge. Great leaps, a little scoot back on the front through double back. 9.975

FINAL: Oklahoma 197.775, Missouri 196.750

Helen Hu’s going to be the headline here, but it’s also a great team score from both teams and a season high for the Tigers despite some areas for improvement. Maybe next week will be the week that OU rethinks its lineups.

VT: Jocelyn Moore (Miz) 9.975
UB: Audrey Davis (OU) 9.950
BB: Helen Hu (Miz) 10.000
FX: Jordan Bowers, Faith Torrez (OU) 9.975
AA: Audrey Davis (OU) 39.725
