BREAKING: Rutgers Head Coach Umme Salim-Beasley Placed on Paid Administrative Leave

Umme Salim-Beasley, who is in her seventh year as head coach of the Rutgers women’s gymnastics program, has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to NJ.com. This comes after an external investigation concluded that she “lost control” of the gymnastics program. She is also known to have violated school policy by maintaining a relationship with former athletic director Pat Hobbs, who resigned from his position in August.

Gymnasts on the team had previously alleged that the relationship between Hobbs and Salim-Beasley had prevented complaints about her behavior and team dynamics from being properly investigated.

In the six seasons that Salim-Beasley has completed as head coach, Rutgers has not qualified to NCAA regionals, with the highest final ranking being No. 40 in 2021.

This is a developing story. We will update this post as more information becomes available.
