Hello, and welcome to your Sunday afternoon neighboring conference matchup: EAGL and GEC. I’m going to jump right in with how things could look.
Temple, a fairly strong bar team, could very well be outdone by Yale today. Both are fairly close in where they fall in strength, but Temple has struggled to put together a hit bar rotation yet this season, and Yale has continued to improve week after week. You know I’m going to say it, a Reagan Walker and Sarah Wilson (Week 4 Gymnast of the Week in the GEC) one-two punch can put the pressure on Temple. Temple is able to put up the higher scores when the Owls hit, though. Especially with a Stallings-Stallings-Whalen tic-tac-toe.
Momentum is very real, and with both teams squaring off on bars the first two rotations, it could give that much needed boost to claim a win today. For Yale to pull it off, the Bulldogs need to have a polished meet and hit their season high of 194.250 or better. A score that can certainly beat Temple as the Owls haven’t gone over a 194.225 since the opening meet of their season.
Watch along here, and I’ll search for some live score updates to follow along with.
Live scores here!
Rotation 1: Yale VT, Temple UB
Wilson (Yale): Y tuck full, hops forward. Had some good height. 9.575
Aviad (Yale): Y half, some knees in the air, hops forward. 9.675
Titche (Yale): Y full, stumbles off mat and falls. Definitely crunched on the table so there wasn’t as much block as she needed. 8.875
Walker (Yale): Y half, small step forward. Definitely off to the side on the table, but no issue in the air. 9.725
Sabatini (Yale): Y full, hops. Loving this theme of Ivy freshman absolutely killing it. Re: Sydney Beers (Cornell) and her freshman year last year. 9.725
Wang (Yale): Big step to the side on the Y full. Kind of slipped on the table or had a weird block. 9.425
Brooks (Temple): Shy on that first hs. Bail, good. Full to double tuck, great form in the air, but lands with her chest down and takes a big step forward. 9.575
Dorunda (Temple): Toe on tkatchev, some flexed feet there. Pak with leg sep. Good handstands. Full to double tuck, hops forward. 9.700
Whalen (Temple): Bail to hs, leg sep in the hs. Tkatchev, lovely. Good handstands. FTDB, small hop. 9.725
H. Stallings (Temple): Shy on that first. hs. Lovely tkatchev in the air, it’s so graceful, did catch it a little close. FTDB, I’d say stuck. 9.700
S. Stallings (Temple): Blind to piked jager, her form is delightful throughout this routine. Full to double tuck, holds the landing and sticks it! 9.825
Glynn (Temple): Toe on shaposh to bail. Full to double tuck, small hop in place. Really nailed that handstand position in her pirouette. 9.825
After 1: Temple 48.775, Yale 48.125
Not the way Yale would have wanted to open this meet, but Temple should be thrilled with that bar rotation with no major errors. Yale is definitely a stronger bar team than vault so as long as the Bulldogs can put together hit routines, they should be okay.
Rotation 2: Temple VT, Yale UB
Schugman (Temple): Y half, not quite the best block off the table, steps back. 9.625
Hill (Temple): Y full, good, small hop. 9.800
Behner (Temple): Y full, hops. Some form in the air but great height. 9.750
Aresta (Temple): Y full, sticks it, lands with her feet suuuper far apart though. 9.775

Sabatini (Yale): Flexed feet on the tkatchev. Full to double tuck, sticks it! 9.650
Wang (Yale): Blind to straddle jaeger, lovely. Bail to low. FTDB, steps forward. Good routine. 9.725
Walker (Yale): Great handstand. Blind to straddle jaeger, good! Bail to hs. Shy on that last hs. Double lay, just a step back. 9.700
Henry (Yale): Blind to jaeger, good. Bail to hs a little archy. Double lay, takes a step back. 9.525
After 2: Temple 97.500, Yale 96.625
Season high for Temple on vault today with a 48.725. Temple cushioned its leave with that vault rotation with nearly a full point between them and Yale. These teams are closely matched on floor but Temple will need to keep nerves at bay when ending on beam later.
Rotation 3: Yale BB, Temple FX
Strause (Yale): Bhs loso, lovely. Front aerial to split jump, can’t really see the extension from this angle. Good leaps, tiny balance check there and on the full turn. Bhs bhs to lay double full. Was totally off the side on that but had no issue and sticks it. Ice cold. 9.700
Wilson (Yale): Comes off on her front tuck. Switch leap to split jump. Absolutely wonderful extension on those. Bhs loso, no problems. Side aerial dance series, good. Piked gainer, small step. 9.050
Qu (Yale): No issue on the bhs loso. Beat to sheep, small balance check but great position in the air. Switch leap to straddle 1/4, lovely. Sticks her piked gainer off the end. Great recovery for Yale. 9.800

Walker (Yale): Bhs loso, pretty as usual. Comes off on her full turn. Front aerial, good. Switch leap to split jump, good. Bhs to gainer full off the side, stuck! 9.400
Ruskey (Temple): Front through to double tuck, close to the corner and steps out. Switch side to popa has beautiful extension. Double pike has nice height but lands kind of low. 9.525
Long wait on floor.
Roland (Temple): Great double pike to open. Switch ring to wolf hop full could have a little more shape. Front lay front lay, keeps it in. Cowboys the double tuck but keeps it on her feet. 9.050
Behner (Temple): Front double full, gets that around no issues. Leap series a little off on those jumps. RO 1.5 to front lay, good. In the words of KJC, HOLD the ending pose. Please. 9.750
Dorunda (Temple): Double tuck, good. Nice leaps. Front lay to rudi, lovely. That should score nicely. 9.675
Schugman (Temple): Some form in the leaps, but good height. 1.5 to front full very nice. Double pike, chest just a little down but great routine overall. 9.850
Donabedian (Temple): Rudi to loso, and she flooaaats in that loso. Leg a little low in her split jump full in her leap series. Front double full, steps a bit to the side but fine. 9.775
After 3: Temple 146.075, Yale 144.900
Yale was forced to count a fall on beam, but Walker still put up a 9.400 with that fall. Temple didn’t count anything under a 9.525 on floor, and notched a new season high on floor.
Rotation 4: Temple BB, Yale FX
Schugman (Temple): Front aerial to front aerial scale. Small pause. Straddle to straddle 1/4, small check. RO 1.5, I’d say stuck. 9.725
Dorunda (Temple): Bhs loso loso, no issues. Switch side, good. Tiny check on the full turn. Cartwheel 1.5, looked stuck. 9.825
Roland (Temple): Bhs loso, good. Hitch kick, repeats it to set up again to a side aerial, good. Lovely jump series. RO 1.5, stuck. 9.825
Glynn (Temple): Side aerial to split jump, nice. Wobbles on the front aerial. Bhs loso, wobbles. Switch leap split jump, good. Bhs gainer full off the side, stuck. 9.675

Wang (Yale): Lovely double pike to open. Excellent leap series. Double tuck, good. RO 1.5 to front lay, no problem. 9.750
Final: Temple 194.950, Yale 193.600
Temple had a great day with several new season highs, both teams had a few struggles on vault but Yale closed out the day with a beautiful floor rotation and Temple put on an clinic on beam. Out of 12 beam routines, we saw 10 stuck dismounts today.
