The NCGA-East has been a wrecking ball lately. If you haven’t been keeping up, Rhode Island is smashing program records on floor and Brockport has been toppling team records on bars, climbed atop the NCGA rankings, and is currently the highest-scoring team with a 192.275.
Rhode Island will be putting the heat on Brockport, coming off a hot streak of broken program records courtesy of Kelsey Gates who, two weeks ago, tied with Olivia Keyes on floor with a 9.750, the pair tying a Rhode Island program record. Clearly not satisfied with this, Gates went on to score a 9.850 last weekend and write her name in the history books. This one-two punch of Gates and Keyes should put the pressure on Brockport to deliver on floor themselves. The last time Brockport saw Rhode Island, Keyes also broke a program record on beam and in the all-around. Not to be outdone, that same meet Lexi Castellaneta scored a person-high on vault and Taylor Bushey notched a career-high on bars just one meet before Brockport rewrote its own history books with the new bar record. Newcomer Naimah Muhammad has been making her own waves, quickly forging her path to being a household name for the Golden Eagles.
The point? Both teams are absolutely on fire. Whether it was a year off, a chance to reset, or just hungry to be back in the thick of things, both teams have started the season bringing some heat. The last caveat? When meeting two weeks ago, every single event winner set a new program record.
If this doesn’t get you excited for the meet today then I don’t know what will. Maybe another cup of coffee to wake you up to some Division III action.
Teams are filtering back in.
Announcing teams now.
Touch is underway!

After 1: Brockport 48.250, RIC 42.600
Rhode Island had a few struggles on bars, no falls counted, but steps and form proved to keep scores from reaching full potential. Brockport threw up some powerful vaults, slowly putting it all together with taking less steps on landings and harnessing its power.

Jackson exhibition for Brockport. Great routine.
After 2: Brockport 96.175, Rhode Island 89.150
Not the bar rotatation Brockport would’ve wanted after last weekend, but it had three solid routine stuck routines in the middle of the lineup and it wasn’t a meltdown by any means. Rhode Island had a few tough landings on vault but the power and potential is there.
Keyes and Gates are your must watch players on floor for RIC as we head into the second half.
Hoping for some camera adjustments since beam is hidden behind bars and the floor is missing a few corners.
Rotation 3: Brockport Beam, Rhode Island Floor

Stinnette (Brockport): Little bobble on the full turn. BHS LOSO, solid. Switch leap to split jump to back tuck, great, just a little shy on the split. Cat leap to side aerial, good. RO 1.5, step forward.

Judges are chatting about Keyes routine. Because reasons?

Brockport will be wrapping up on floor, arguably its strongest event.
For those who have stayed up past their bedtime, welcome to the Brockport dance party.
Rotation 4: Rhode Island Beam, Brockport Floor
Silva (RIC): Cat leap to side aerial slight pause, round off. Wolf to wolf 3/4, soft shapes. Piked gainer off end, big step forward.
Galioto (Brockport): RO double tuck, lot of power, steps back. Switch good, jumps a little soft but bouncy. RO 1.5 to front lay goes off camera.
Nugent (RIC): Front aerial, bhs, nice. Split jump to wolf 3/4, kind of loses the shape toward the end. Switch leap to split 3/4, solid but a little shy. Punch lay full. Great restart for Rhode Island.

Paultre (Brockport): RO to double tuck, great, smooth landing. Leap series goes off camera but looked great. Front full to front lay, almost under rotates but hits. Great jump series. Switch leap is beautiful. Just that landing on the front lay.
Tucker (RIC): Front aerial wobbles bhs, but beautiful front aerial. Switch leap switch leap, good, little soft but solid. Beat to straddle full, gorgeous. RO 1.5 step back and to the side. But bottle her flexibility and grace to give to the world.
Figuerlli (Brockport): Great opening pass, excellent control. Beautiful leap series. Bounces forward in the double pike, but super clean otherwise.
Keyes (RIC): Cat leap to switch side, good. BHS layout, good, just soft knees in the bhs. Front aerial, floaty. Switch leap split 1/4, just the tiniest bit shy. Front gainer full, just a step.
Judges going for a record number of conferences this meet.
Castellaneta (Brockport): FTDB, sky high and just scoots back the tiniest bit. Switch side to popa, great. Front full to front lay, clean. RO double tuck, good. Great routine. That should score big.
Kleinebreil and King exhibiton for Rhode Island on beam.
Devine and Conlon exhibition for Brockport on floor.
Final: Brockport 192.225, Rhode Island 184.125
Might not be the score Brockport was chasing after last weekend but it’s absolutely not a score to be sad about. Rhode Island had a few hiccups but proved its floor scores haven’t been a fluke. I anticipate scores will be a little while but I’ll update them as they’re available.
VT: Castellaneta 9.775
UB: Gare 9.675
BB: Castellaneta 9.775
FX: Keyes 9.850
