LIVE BLOG: No. 26 Ohio State and No. 33 Nebraska at Michigan State

This meet is going to give us some great insight into the full landscape of the Big Ten. Ohio State had a nervy showing at Iowa last week and will be striving to prove it was a fluke and that it is still in 196-plus form. It’s an especially tall order since the Buckeyes had to change course last minute after Michigan paused athletic activities. For Nebraska, it’s about continuing to fix errors and climb out of the week-one hole the Huskers dug themselves. Last week was better, but not where this team wants to be.

We haven’t seen Michigan State yet. Head Coach Mike Rowe took advantage of technical conference competition starting this week, allowing his team extra time to prepare. The Spartans need to come out swinging since they’ll have fewer drop meets once we get to NQS rankings. This freshman class is big, with six newcomers and a redshirt in Linda Zivat, so the shape of this team may look very different than it did in 2020. It should be an exciting debut.

Injury updates: Martina Comin (UNL, unknown), Sarah Hargrove (UNL, unknown) and Danica Abanto (tOSU, unknown) have missed the first two weeks of competition.

Okay Baleigh Garcia all arounder! No Linda Zivat here eyes emoji.

If you’ve been around the BTN+ block a few times, you know what I’m going to say: this meet almost certainly won’t start on time.

We’ve currently got a frozen view of the arena at the top of the hour, so I’m assuming march in or intros are happening.

Oooo now we have an event starting soon screen. Good sign.

Rotation 1: MSU vault, UNL bars, tOSU beam

Well we’re seeing MSU score tweets! The meet is happening but the stream is not. Love it great work glad I pay for this service.

Per Twitter, Wiedeman started off with a 9.500 and then German made her debut for a 9.600.

Hofelich for a 9.775.

Sorry, seriously just reading tweets here, if I see updates from Nebraska or Ohio State I’ll let you know.

Looks like the score page is updating except for Ohio State. Everything is going great!

This is annoying. It’s MSU’s first meet! So many freshmen will debut! Ohio State is on a comeback mission and Nebraska is trying to prove week one was a fluke. I’d like to see what happens. Sigh.

MSU’s six have gone and we still have nothing. Looks like Nebraska is done, too. Who knows what’s happening with the Buckeyes, thanks sidearmstats.

Anyway, as the blue screen tells me: I’M WATCHING B1G+ NETWORK.

Am I though?

OK OK Ohio State scores rolling in. The first rotation has one beam routine left glad we’re getting to watch this quite close meet!!!!!!

AFTER ONE: UNL 48.675, MSU 48.625, tOSU?????

Clue flames on the side of my face gif goes here. If you know you know.

I mean score wise these teams will take that. Not brilliant but not panic disaster mode. Nebraska would rather not count a 9.475 but with Hargrove still missing depth is light. Mid-48s are a sweet spot for MSU, especially early, so the Spartans are probably satisfied.

Ohio State’s last score (Hodges, should be) refuses to load. Naturally.

Well I had time to go find the gif, on the up side.

Heyo Ohio State score came in, 48.850.

That’s solid, the Buckeyes will take it, and be happy to have the lead after one. I wish we knew why Schweitzer had a 9.600!!!

Rotation 2: MSU bars, UNL beam, tOSU floor

Well rotation two has begun. Shrug emoji.

Look, you guys are great. Thanks for reading! Thanks for sticking around! But…I know BTN+. I don’t think this is getting fixed. And even if it does…we’ll have missed at least half the meet. Le sigh. I’m sorry!!!!

Rotation 3:

Rotation 4:

NOTE: The BTN+ stream had not begun as of 2:50 ET, so we stepped away.
