About Kalyxta
Gamiao is a five-time J.O. nationals qualifier (2015-19). At nationals, in 2019, she tied for second place on floor and finished fourth in the all around (Junior F). Gamiao is the 2019 Region 2 champion in the all around, bars and floor. She is also the 2019 Hawaii state champion in the all around (tied), bars and floor.
What She Brings to Arkansas
Vault
- Skill: Yurchenko full/Yurchenko 1.5
- Results: 2018 Hawaii State champion
- Margin of Improvement: Gamiao’s Yurchenko full is solid. Her Yurchenko 1.5 is slightly underrotated, but she has a lot of potential.
- Impact on the Team: Arkansas struggled on vault in 2020. Head coach Jordyn Wieber will hope that Gamiao will be able to consolidate her Yurchenko 1.5 in her final year of club gymnastics. It would be an asset to the lineup.
Uneven Bars
- Skills: Tkatchev, blind full to bail to handstand, double layout dismount
- Results: 2019 Hawaii state champion
- Margin of Improvement: Gamiao’s routine presents two main areas of deductions. One is a leg separation on her bail to handstand; the other is a slight pike down on her dismount. The rest of the routine is good and difficult. A couple of years ago she competed a very difficult toe-on counter Kim.
- Impact on the Team: In her final year of club gymnastics, Gamiao will likely polish her routine a bit more. If she does, she will challenge for a spot in the lineup.
Balance Beam
- Skills: LOSO + LOSO, side somi to straddle jump half, switch leap to leap jump full, full turn, double twist dismount
- Results: 2019 Region 2 champion
- Margin of Improvement: She loses her toe point on her difficult leaps and her split full could be a bit more extended. Nevertheless, Gamiao’s routine is very strong.
- Impact on the Team: Arkansas is a growing beam team and Gamiao will help the Razorbacks continue in the right direction.
Floor Exercise
- Skills: full-twisting double back, 1.5 twist to 2.5 twist, double turn, double pike
- Results: tied second place at 2019 J.O. nationals (Junior F)
- Margin of Improvement: Gamiao is an excellent floor worker. Her routine is difficult and polished. She is ready for college.
- Impact on the Team: Arkansas did very well on floor in 2020 and Gamiao is expected to compete on that same level and perform 9.9-plus sets. She has the potential to do so.
