About Savanah

Warren is a 2019 J.O. nationals qualifier. There, she tied for tenth place on vault (Junior E). In 2019 she also won gold on floor and silver on vault at the Colorado state meet, and bronze on vault at Region 3 regionals.

What She Brings to Nebraska

Vault

  • Skill: Yurchenko full
  • Results: third place at the 2019 Region 3 regional (career high)
  • Margin of Improvement: Warren’s height and amplitude are impressive. She pikes down ever so slightly on the landing, though, which makes her take an unnecessary step back. She is also training a Yurchenko double.
  • Impact on the Team: Nebraska unveiled a whole 10.0 start-value lineup in 2020, but not only was it a bit shaky, it lost two of its best gymnasts to graduation and transfer. Its other two great vaulters will graduate in 2021. Once Warren gets to college, she will be needed to rebuild the lineup. Her Yurchenko full will be strong, and a potential Yurchenko double would be an asset.

Uneven Bars

  • Skills: Hindorff, bail to handstand, double layout dismount
  • Results: second place at 2020 Chris Waller’s Heart of a Champion (career high)
  • Margin of Improvement: This is a new routine for Warren. As a result, she still needs to polish some elements. Most evidently, she has a leg separation on her bail to handstand and a pike down on her dismount. Her 2019 routine also included a very difficult Ezhova.
  • Impact on the Team: Except for Clara Colombo and Kathryn Thaler, the rest of the 2020 bar lineup will have left Nebraska once Warren gets there. Her bar routine still needs more polish, but she has potential to make the lineup at some point in college.

Balance Beam

  • Skills: full turn, switch leap to switch leap half, BHS + LOSO, front toss to leap jump, back tuck somersault to beat jump, double twist dismount
  • Results: second place at 2020 Denver Winterfest Classic (career high)
  • Margin of Improvement: Warren looks a bit tentative on beam, but she performs a difficult routine and her execution reveals a lot of potential. The only evident deduction is a knee bend on her acrobatic series.
  • Impact on the Team: Most of Nebraska’s current beam lineup will have graduated once Warren arrives in Lincoln. She needs more confidence to be a solid contributor but she has the potential to become one.

Floor Exercise

  • Skills: double pike, front full twist to front layout, Rudi
  • Results: 2019 Colorado state champion
  • Margin of Improvement: The landing on Warren’s twisting passes still needs some work, but her routine is overall strong.
  • Impact on the Team: Currently, Nebraska’s 2021 floor lineup is a big question mark. Head coach Heather Brink will be relieved once the next season is over and she’s able to welcome Warren to college. Her routine is not the most difficult, but it will make a difference.
