About Grace

Hunter competed three floor routines at Bridgeport in her freshman season, as well as one vault in exhibition. Prior to college, she was fifth in the all around at the 2019 South Carolina state meet.

What She Brings to N.C. State

Vault

  • Skill: Yurchenko layout/Yurchenko half
  • Margin of Improvement: Hunter performed one exhibition vault at Bridgeport—a good Yurchenko layout but that only starts from a 9.75 in college. In club, she also competed a Yurchenko half, which starts from a 9.95 and is a more competitive vault. She had a very deep landing, though.
  • Impact on the Team: N.C. State failed to break into the 9.9s on vault in 2020 but its lineup was solid. It will want to avoid having to use a Yurchenko layout. If Hunter can improve her Yurchenko half, she could challenge for a spot in the top six.

Uneven Bars

Hunter struggled on bars throughout her club career and never competed it in college. There are no available videos.

Balance Beam

  • Skills: full turn, switch leap to leap jump, straddle jump quarter, BHS + LOSO, half twist dismount (level 9)
  • Margin of Improvement: Hunter struggled on beam throughout her club career and never competed it at Bridgeport. The only available video is her performance at the 2018 level 9 South Carolina state meet, which she won with a 9.300.
  • Impact on the Team: N.C. State is a strong beam team, and Hunter is unlikely to make the lineup.

Floor Exercise

  • Skills: double tuck, 1.5 twist to front pike, 1.5 twist to front tuck
  • Margin of Improvement: Hunter’s main issue on floor at Bridgeport was probably her double tuck. The rest of her routine, though not very original, seemed quite solid.
  • Impact on the Team: N.C. State was very strong on floor in 2020, and Hunter will have to work on her consistency if she wants to have a chance to make the lineup.
