Under-the-Radar Recruits That Excel on Vault

Our recruit ratings make it easy to discover all-arounders who will lead their teams to NCAA success in the coming years. However, event specialists play an important role on college teams too, and these gymnasts may slip under the radar while being recruited. Each year we take the time to highlight uncommitted, three-star, and/or unrated gymnasts who excel on each event, and today, we’ll start with vault.

Class of 2025

Mia Leverton

Watch

Rating: NR

College: Uncommitted

High Score: 9.850

Why She Stands Out: One of the top gymnasts from South Carolina, Leverton was originally in the class of 2024 but took an extra year. She used that time to the fullest, upgrading from a Yurchenko full to a one and a half, winning the vault state and regional titles, and tying for second on the event at nationals. She would be a great late commit for many schools.

Noella Marshall

Watch

Rating:  NR

College: Alabama

High Score: 9.875

Why She Stands Out: Marshall had a breakout senior season that resulted in her making a few official visits after nationals and making a late commitment to Alabama on a full-ride scholarship. Like one of the top vaulters in the country, Sage Kellerman, Marshall also trained at All American Flames and competes the same vault, a front pike half that ought to contend for the Alabama vault lineup.

Ava Thurston

Watch

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

College: Ball State

High Score: 9.900

Why She Stands Out: Thurston competes a nice Yurchenko one and a half that earned her state and regional championships on the event. While she has room to refine her execution, her landings are usually quite well-controlled, and this vault could be a fantastic addition to the Cardinals’ lineup.

Class of 2026

Yuri Dunlap

Watch

Rating:  NR

College: Uncommitted

High Score: 9.975

Why She Stands Out: Regional and national champion, Dunlap competes a clean Yurchenko one and a half that will serve her well at whichever college she ends up. Dunlap has scored 9.9+ on the event twice this year which is incredibly impressive, especially for an uncommitted recruit.

Bianca Jackson

Watch

Rating: NR

College: Uncommitted

High Score: 9.900

Why She Stands Out: Jackson had a fantastic finish to her season with a third-place finish at nationals and reaching a career-high 9.900 to win the regional event title. Also uncommitted, it’ll be interesting to see which college manages to snag this athlete and her Yurchenko one and a half.

Sarah Savisky

Watch

Rating:  ⭐️⭐️⭐️

College: Uncommitted

High Score: 9.900

Why She Stands Out: Savisky set a career-high 9.900 on vault at nationals to take second place on the event. She’s visited North Carolina, Kent State, and Nebraska, and it’ll be interesting to see whether she and her front pike half end up at one of those or somewhere else.

Christina Shelton

Watch

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

College: N.C. State

High Score: 9.850

Why She Stands Out: The state of Georgia seems to be doing well with training vaulters as in addition to Jackson, Shelton is another fantastic vaulter from the state. She competes a lovely Yurchenko one and a half that won her state and regional titles this year and has also trained an Omelianchik.

Class of 2027

Mary Elinor Flack

Watch

Rating:  ⭐️⭐️⭐️

College: Uncommitted

High Score: 9.925

Why She Stands Out: Flack had a great season, especially near the end when she won the Texas state vault title with a career-high 9.925 before going on to place first on the event at regionals and third at nationals. If she’s able to hone in on her consistency, she will likely be considered one of the top vaulters of her class, but for now, she’s still under the radar!

Giselle Guenther

Watch

Rating: NR

College: Uncommitted

High Score: 9.850

Why She Stands Out: A first-year level 10, Guenther did not hit the 9.800 mark until states, when she won the event title. Even more impressive still, she managed to maintain it at regionals and set a new career high at nationals with a 9.850. At this rate, her Yurchenko one and a half will serve her well not only in the recruiting process but also in future years.

Olivia Parma

Watch

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

College: Uncommitted

High Score: 9.825

Why She Stands Out: While she unfortunately got injured mid-season, Parma’s season was successful while it lasted and included her setting a career-high 9.825 on this event in her final meet. Parma competes the only Omelianchik on this list, which could be a great contribution to a college lineup in the future, especially with two years to refine her execution.
