The NCGA Dismount: Week 7

With NQS finally filtering into rankings, teams are starting to slide around and we settle in and look towards the remaining season as well as postseason. It was a busy weekend for several teams including Ithaca, Cortland and Ursinus who all competed twice this week. UW-Oshkosh etched its name in the history books, putting some pressure on No. 1 Brockport. Here’s a reminder that four of the NCGA teams do not have an NQS just yet. Don’t panic if your favorite team had a drastic fall in the rankings this week. Keep an eye on rankings in the coming weeks to get a realistic idea of where each team truly lies.

Record Breaking Performance of the Week

UW-Oshkosh, 191.900

The Titans posted the team’s highest total in program history thanks to great performances on bars and floor. Emily Buffington continued to lead the way on vault with another score over 9.700. Rahdea Jarvis has stepped up her game in recent weeks as well, going 9.700 on bars and floor. UW-Oshkosh fought throughout the meet to avoid counting mistakes, and the perseverance paid off.

Feel Good Moment of the Week

Kennedy Springer, floor, 9.625

After tearing her achilles twice in consecutive seasons, Springer returned to the floor in an exhibition routine for UW-Oshkosh. One might think after two achilles ruptures that Kennedy would go for a simpler routine, but she went for the gusto with two double backs. We hope to see this fun, energetic routine in the lineup again in the coming weeks!

Clutch Team of the Week

Ursinus, bars, 46.925

Not only did Ursinus travel to Maryland on Saturday, but the team stepped in to face off against Penn for its senior meet after Bridgeport couldn’t make it. On Sunday they set a new season high for both bars and a team score. Okay, Ursinus. We see you.

Hype Team of the Week

Cortland, bars, 44.450

Not only can the Red Dragons breathe fire, they can toss up some big releases, too. Cortland notched its season high on bars, with the team enthusiastically hyping everyone up along the way.
