There’s a lot that happens on the gymternet each week. So much so that it can be hard to keep track of it all. From training updates and COVID year announcements to recruiting rumors and coaching news, we don’t blame you for missing some important points here and there.

That’s where we come in. Last Week in College Gym is your one-stop shop for all the important headlines from the previous week in college gymnastics. No matter if you’re taking a social media break, went on vacation or just don’t have the capacity to follow every single gymnast, team and fan, we have you covered.

Newsworthy Items

  • LSU senior Sami Durante was spotted in a sling. Durante was LSU’s bars anchor and a weekly contributor on beam in 2021. She occasionally made appearances in the vault lineup with a clean Yurchenko full. 
  • NCGA announced its sponsorship with GK. 

NIL Brand Deals

  • Denver senior Mia Sundstrom teased that her collaborative design with Layout Leos is nearing completion.

Training Updates

  • LIU junior Amanda Loo is working on a double layout on floor.
  • Auburn sophomore Tara Walsh competed a two and a half twist on floor in a recent intrasquad. Walsh did not compete in her freshman year.
  • Alabama freshmen Corinne Bunagen and Lily Hudson competed BHS + LOSO on beam in a recent intrasquad. Makarri Doggette, Mati Waligora, Ella Burgess and Lusia Blanco were the other competitors shown on beam. 
  • Florida freshman Leanne Wong competed in her first intrasquad. Wong displayed a double twisting Yurchenko on vault, a Van Leeuwen on bars, a front aerial to sissone on beam and a triple twist on floor. 
  • Denver shared a short clip of highlights from its recent intrasquad. The Pioneers showcased tumbling onto mats along with skills on bars, beam and vault.
  • West Virginia posted highlights from its pre-Thanksgiving intrasquad, which features skills on every event and a glimpse of some key freshmen.
