BREAKING: Greenville University to Add Women’s, Men’s Gymnastics

Greenville University, a Division III school in Greenville, Illinois, announced it will be adding both women’s and men’s gymnastics programs Wednesday.

The university was established as Greenville College in 1892 before being renamed Greenville University in 2017. It is is affiliated with the Free Methodist Church.

“We are excited to bring gymnastics to the region and making the announcement in the midst of the Olympics seemed like perfect timing,” GU president Suzanne Davis said. “Adding gymnastics at GU will also benefit the community, as the vision includes a gymnastics facility open to all youth.”

Long Island University is the most recent school to add women’s gymnastics, with the Sharks’ completing their inaugural season in 2021. Then, Clemson University announced in June it would be adding women’s gymnastics starting with the 2024 season. It is the first men’s program to be added in 60 years.
