2019 Season Coaching Changes

Every year after the season concludes, a coaching shuffle happens with those underperforming not being retained, assistants moving up to better gigs and other changes that are oftentimes hard to keep track of. Throughout the offseason, we’ll be updating this post with new information of coaching changes, from firings to hirings.

Alabama

Arizona

  • Assistant coach position open after Tabitha Yim left for head coach position at Stanford, John Court named interim head coach and eventually head coach.
  • Taylor Spears named assistant coach. Spears was formerly assistant coach at North Carolina (May 7, 2018).

Arkansas

  • Assistant coaches Jaime Armbrust and Garrett Griffith were promoted to associate head coaches.

Auburn

  • Assistant coach Mary McDaniel no longer listed on Auburn gymnastics website (June 4, 2018).
  • Ashley Priess Johnston hired as assistant coach (June 6, 2018).

Georgia

Illinois

  • Assistant coach Ashley Priess-Johnston no longer listed on Illinois gymnastics website (June 4, 2018).

North Carolina

  • Assistant coach Taylor Spears took open position at Arizona (May 7, 2018).

Rutgers

  • Louis Levine not retained as head coach (April 10, 2018).
  • Assistant coach Anne Meade named interim head coach (April 10, 2018).
  • Temple head coach¬†Umme Salim-Beasley hired as head coach at Rutgers (May 11, 2018).

SEMO

  • Head coach Kristi Ewasko contract not renewed (Dec. 13, 2017).
  • Brittney Emmons named acting head coach (Dec. 13, 2017).

Temple

Utah State

  • Assistant Coach Harris Bergman left team after conference championships.
  • Erik Lewis hired as assistant coach¬†(May 21, 2018).

  1. There were obviously two assistant coaches st Utah State all season, not sure why you’re reporting that there was only one. Harris only left the team just after conference…
