The DIIIsmount: Week Seven

Brockport State stunned in Division III action this weekend, recording the top score of the DIII season by a margin of more than a point and a half and rocketing into first place in DIII standings. Ithaca continued to impress, too; though it couldn’t match the 190+ scores of the last two weekends, it set several individual program records and moved into the third spot nationally over UW-Whitewater.

In Division II, Texas Woman’s continued its upward trajectory, scoring its second-highest score of the season to bring its average up and move past Air Force to claim the third spot in the USAG standings. Bridgeport and Lindenwood held onto the first- and second-place spots, respectively, but things are closer than ever between the two: They’re currently separated by only 0.007 overall.

Senior Kelsey Campbell finished second in the all around, and Kelli Tereshko tied with Doran with a 9.800 on bars.

West Chester recorded season highs on beam and in the team total to beat Bridgeport for the first time in team records—at least since 2005. Sophomore Jordan Miranda and freshman Yolanda Nodarse led the team on beam with a 9.775 and 9.75, respectively.

Ursinus set a season high on beam, including individual season bests from Alexandra Puryear and Matisen O’Brien. Freshman Alex Lacey produced a counting score in her collegiate debut on beam. The score on that apparatus was good for third, ranking over a difficult rotation from Bridgeport.

Brockport gymnasts also won all five individual titles—though on beam, Kimberly Musall tied with Cortland’s Bailey Gildemeyer.

Cortland also excelled on floor, recording three scores over 9.8 to set a school record of 48.750. Emma Schulz led the team with a 9.875, as well as tied for third on beam with a 9.700. Despite a challenging bars rotation, Cortland was able to record a season high by a huge margin; its 190.800 replaces the previous mark of 187.000, set two weeks ago at home.
