Leotard Rankings: Week 8

Some teams debuted new leotards this week while others wore the old standbys. Alabama senior and associate head coach Bryan Raschilla helped design the Crimson Tide’s outfit while Florida showed off another new uniform under head coach Jenny Rowland. We loved some of the choices this week, but other? Not so much. See what we thought and let us know what you thought as well.

Cal LOVES this open back design. It definitely sets them apart and is a signature style. Navy with lots of sparkles is usually a good combo (just ask UCLA)

I really like the back. And the California on the strap thing is a nice touch. The front design is fine — don’t love it or hate it. I like how the mesh sleeves take it from being all navy to slightly different textures.

I really like the sleeves on this one, it reminds me of the Australian olympic leo that Lauren Mitchell wore. I prefer this blending of the orange and blue to the swirly mish mash of the past two weeks.

I like this one. There’s just enough orange without being overwhelming, and it’s in a good place. The white also works well with it. Overall, one of my more favorite Auburn leos.

A very nice black leo.  Reminds me of OSU, but this is a great change of pace for Minnesota.  I especially enjoy the big M in the center.

I like how this is a change from Minnesota’s typical maroon and yellow leos. I’m assuming it was for a blackout, and the classic look looks good. I like the sparkly M and the rhinestone cuffs. The small amount of design on the top and the mesh is nice too.

Very Georgia, but I need more. Too simple and plain for me, because all their G leo’s look similar to this. On it’s own the leo isn’t bad, just nothing to write home about.

I like this Georgia leo. It’s simple and class and kind of old school but elevated from being boring with the sparkle. I love the red arms and the Super G really pops on the black body.

I like the little neck detail on the back between the M. The back in general is beautiful, I love it. The front isn’t my favorite though.

I actually like the mesh placement here. But more so when the arms are up because then it looks like a heart. The back M is cool, but maybe a tad big or too yellow or something. The front yellow looks like a necklace.

A very nice design, but nothing that separates it from the 32 other navy and crystal UCLA leotards.

I like the concept of this one. The faux neckline goes a bit too low for me in the front though, and there’s a bit too much mesh on the back. The suspender-like blue bits on the back are unique and I like the design on the front.

This leo is nice and do really like the design.  My drawback is the purple on purple… doesn’t show off what the leo really looks like.

The mesh placement is a bit weird, but overall I don’t hate it. The purple color of the shiny and mesh is really nice and there’s just enough sparkle. Not bad, LSU, but not my absolute fave either.

This isn’t my favorite Denver leo of the bunch. The color is still lovely, but the neck is weird. I’ve never been a fan of the upside-down V-type design.

This leo was designed (in part) by Carley Sims, who I love. Therefore, I love this leo. I like the idea of the rhinestone design, and it is a great amount, just a bit too random.  The rhinestone sweetheart neckline and the A are the best parts.

When I first saw this leo, I thought the rhinestones were trying to look like an elephant. Then I thought it looked like Arkansas’ razorback. There’s just too much going on too far down. The circles are in an awkward place on the girls’ bladder. I do like the arms, which are mesh but didn’t look super mesh-y on TV, and the sweetheart neckline is pretty too.

Has a good mixture of fabrics, but you all should know how I feel about random swirls by now. The orange is a great color. I also want a bedazzled beaver for every piece of clothing I own. NEED IT.

This leo is OK. The design is like some other teams’ but obviously with orange and black. The mesh goes down too far for me on the design. Maybe if it was mainly black with white where the black is and orange accents, it would be better.

I like this darker look for Florida. It pairs well with the smaller use of the orange and blue.  The wavy design almost looks like giant drawn locks of hair? Like something I would draw in my notes for chem.  Overall it is fine, just needs a bit more on the design.

I appreciate Florida adding more orange to its leos. Blue and white week after week gets kind of boring. This leo was hella sparkly. And normally I’m all for the bling but this wa a bit much. I was almost blinded and I was only watching on TV. The color design is fine. It kind of looks like an F, which is cool.
